BICESTER conceded a late try to lose 29-22 at bottom side Chesham in Southern Counties North.
The visitors fought back from 22-8 down to level, but Alfie Pettifer crossed late on to secure the home side’s first win of the season.
The teams traded penalties in the first half, Dan Walker slotting over after the hosts had gone ahead.
Chesham soon regained the lead, Toby Deane rounding off a slick move down the left and adding the extras himself.
The hosts were not content with sitting on their lead and went 17-3 up five minutes before half-time.
A scrum was recycled to Alex Shaw, with Deane converting.
Bicester closed the gap before the break, Walker sending Christian Mann over to the right of the posts for an unconverted try.
Alex Jaycocks crossed to restore the 14-point advantage early in the second half, but Bicester responded well.
With 16 minutes remaining, Ollie Cassidy finished off a superb move that was converted by Walker to leave the visitors seven points in arrears.
Bicester kept pushing and Mann raced over with five minutes left, Walker adding the two points.
But Chesham countered and when Deane’s drop goal attempt fell short, Pettifer reacted quickest to gather the bouncing ball and stretch across.
Deane converted, with Bicester unable to respond.
Meanwhile, Gosford All Blacks returned to the top of the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier with a 48-21 win at Drifters, while Oxford were defeated 40-7 at home to Slough.
