SNOOKER: Jay Roberts secured a 4-2 win for Highfield B over Woodstock to maintain his side’s title challenge in the Oxford & District League Premier Division.
The teams were locked at 2-2 when Roberts came to the table, but a brace of victories over Priyan Shah saw Highfield home.
The win could not prevent them being leapfrogged by new leaders Oracle A, who are level on points with their rivals after triumphing 5-1 at Oracle B.
In Division 2, Eynsham A’s 4-2 victory over Js Sports Bar C means the top four teams are separated by just two points.
Bob Thiele’s double over Julio Barresi proved crucial for the home side.
New Club beat nearest challengers Oxford Bowls 4-2 to stay top of the table by a point.
Tony Allsopp rescued a 3-3 draw for Division 3 leaders Oracle D at Eynsham C.
The hosts were 3-1 up and appeared on course for a surprise victory, but Allsopp beat Chris Martin to claw back the deficit.

BILLIARDS: Division 1 leaders Abingdon Con slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Division 2 table-toppers New Club.
Alan Mander and David White gave the hosts an unassailable lead, with Dave Dowling’s victory for Abingdon proving in vain.
Another lower league side to beat higher division opponents were Ashton, who saw off Thame 2-1.
Terry Chambers held his nerve against Brendan Ensoll after Tom Fletcher had cancelled out Pete Fenn’s opening win for Ashton.
Littlemore RBL fought back from 1-0 down to beat Headington Con 2-1 in the battle of the Division 1 strugglers.
