KARL Robinson has put plans to loan fringe players out on hold until later in the transfer window.

Oxford United need to balance the books after bringing in four signings last week.

But several short-term injuries, plus the risk of losing a key player to a big bid, mean the head coach intends to wait until near the deadline to decide on loan exits.

He said: “Right now, no, but there will be.

“There are one or two things, maybe an injury which has cropped up, which might have stalled one or two things.

“People talk about bids coming in, so what I don’t want to do is leave myself completely weak in certain areas.

“I think it’s important we protect ourselves a little bit.

“Once we get towards the end of the window I’ll feel a lot more comfortable in doing something.”

United are yet to receive any bids for their top players, but Robinson expects that to change.

He said: “We’ve not had any yet, but I can assure you they’re hovering.

“I don’t think I’ve seen so many scouts from bigger clubs as were there on Tuesday.”
