DETA Hedman’s hopes of a first BDO World Championship crown were ended in the first round.
The Oxfordshire player, a three-time finalist in the competition, crashed out in straight sets to Laura Turner.
Both showed signs of nerves in the opening stages at the O2 Indigo.
And although both averaged 64, Turner upset the fifth seed by taking the lead.
The experienced Hedman fought to level the scores, but her opponent stepped up a gear to secure a spot in the quarter-finals against Australia’s Corrine Hammond.
