VIKINGS A blew away rivals Oracle with a spectacular 5-1 win in the Premier Division.

Alan Oliver (8,790 & 8,590) was in sensational form for the league leaders, achieving breaks of 6,500 and 6,900 respectively.

Ian Moss (5,050 & 4,040) also claimed two wins, with Allan Lacey (6,920) completing Vikings’ tally.

Ian Gordon saved the whitewash with a 5730-4380 win over Lacey.

Donnington moved into second alongside Oracle following a 4-2 win at Division 1 leaders Masons.

Dave Tooke, Jenny Florey Ian Moquet and top scorer Mellissa Standbridge (6,050) were all triumphant in a well-earned success.

Martyn Wood’s double prevented Masons from suffering a whitewash.

In Division 1, Staff Club are now joint-leaders with Masons following their 4-2 home victory against Democrats Club.

Paul Butcher got the hosts on the board, before Terry Green levelled the scores for the visitors.

Chris Bateman (7,090) restored the home side’s lead but the visitors once again bounced back through Richard Garrett (5,020).

With the contest hanging in the balance, Chris Iagoe (4,670) and Chris Bateman (4,970) recorded vital victories to secure an important success.

Elsewhere, there was an all-Division 2 affair as Headington Con Club survived a spirited Gladiators Club fightback to rescue a 3-3 home draw.

Tim Jeffreys and Roger Tomlin put the hosts ahead and seemingly on course for a comfortable win.

But Gladiators hit back to even things up at 2-2, with wins from first Bob Pincombe and then Dave Jarman, who won by ten after sinking the last ball.

The visitors were favourites to claim a memorable win when Bert Lovegrove put them 3-2 up, before Graham Mildenhall squared the match.
