ALEX Gorrin is relishing a battle tomorrow when Oxford United round off 2019 with a trip to AFC Wimbledon.

It will be the Spaniard’s first visit to Kingsmeadow, but his teammates have filled him in on what to expect.

And if the game is typically intense, then it will suit the midfielder nicely.

He said: “Those type of games I like.

“If it’s a scrap and I have to win headers and tackles that’s what I’m there for.

“The boys were talking about it in the changing room.

“You have to adapt and overcome – I think that’s the most important thing.

“We need to go and get three points again, that’s what you need to achieve our goal.”

The short trip comes in the middle of a hectic spell, where everyone plays three times in less than a week.

But there is nothing like the winning feeling to boost energy levels.

Gorrin said: “I think you recover so much quicker when you’re winning.

“You’re happier, you feel fresh and want the games to come quickly.

“Hopefully we can keep climbing.”
