WYCOMBE Wanderers have defied expectations to sit top of Sky Bet League One on the weekend before Christmas.

The Chairboys will be itching to consolidate their place at the summit tomorrow and Oxford United will have to stop these players to beat the league leaders.

JOE JACOBSON

The left back recently passed 250 appearances for Wycombe and he is as influential as he has ever been.

Jacobson is as important in attack as in defence, with seven goals already this season.

His role in a back line that kept four clean sheets in November saw him named the division’s player of the month.

ADEBAYO AKINFENWA

‘The Beast’ (below) has long been famous for his burly frame, but he is arguably underrated with the ball at his feet.

At 37, he remains a reliable outlet for Wanderers and had already found the net six times by mid-November.

JACK GRIMMER

The Scotsman’s arrival looked a great piece of business when he joined on a free from Coventry in the summer and he has not disappointed.

Slotting in at right back, Grimmer has played all but one league game this season in a defence that has the division’s best defensive record.
