OXFORD United need to adapt quicker when the opposition has success at shutting them down, says boss Karl Robinson.

For the third game in a row his side, who had previously been free-scoring, failed to register in the 1-0 defeat at Milton Keynes Dons.

And the lack of chances all of a sudden is a concern, with sides working hard to press them high up the pitch.

Robinson said: “Our players have to learn one or two things.

“I don’t want to talk about them because I don’t want people to think they’re a massive weakness.

“But there are things I think people do to us that shunt us a little bit backwards.

“When we come to terms with it then we get our rhythm again.”

The visitors did alter their shape a couple of times, but with only limited success in the final third.

Robinson said: “We started the game with a bit of flow and then lost it very quickly and we were then fighting to get a foothold in the game.

“We changed the system after 25 minutes and I felt we finished the half better and probably territorially dominated most of the second half.

“But we were almost throwing feathers rather than punches.

“Everyone goes through periods.

“You just have to keep persevering and believing in what you do.”
