THAME United boss Mark West wants to see a little more effort in the final third of the field at Daventry Town tomorrow.

West's men are on the road in the BetVictor Southern League Division 1 Central after grabbing a dramatic 2-2 draw at home to Barton Rovers last weekend.

He said: “The league is tight, and anyone can beat anyone this season.

“But we’re not in a great position at the moment, although I was happy to get a point against a good Barton side last week.

“I just felt we needed to be a little bit more creative and develop some opportunities for our strikers to convert. I’m sure if we can create more, we will convert them and start climbing the table.”

He added: “We don’t go into any game looking for a draw, we will set up to try and win the game.

“If we can show the same desire and effort as last weekend, we will do okay.”

Goalkeeper Craig Hill returns from a three-match suspension.

Wantage Town are away at second-bottom side St Neots desperate to get off the mark following last weekend’s 8-0 mauling against leaders Corby Town.

Kidlington travel to Coleshill Town, while Didcot Town are without a game as scheduled opponents Halesowen are in the FA Trophy.

In the Premier Division Central, Banbury United manager Mike Ford says his side must not take their foot off the gas at home to struggling Alvechurch.

A 5-1 win at Leiston last weekend moved the Puritans up to second in the table, but they fell to a 3-2 defeat at Leamington in the Birmingham Senior Cup in midweek.

Although that result disappointed Ford, he is calling on players and supporters to enjoy their current run.

He said: “We will probably be favourites to win on Saturday, but their manager has just gone, and all the pressure will be on us. Our mentality must be right.

“Our games coming up after going to be difficult, but fantastic to be involved in. We need to keep our feet on the ground.

“We haven’t yet had a period where we’ve struggled to pick up results, so we just need to enjoy the ride.”

Ricky Johnson is back in training after a recurring knee injury and may feature, while Giorgio Rasulo and Amer Awadh are set to return.
