OXFORDSHIRE Under 18s kicked off their Shires League season in style.

The eight-strong team beat Surrey 2nd 16-4 and triumphed 20-0 over Avon 2nd at St Helen & St Katharine School in Abingdon.

Elsewhere, Jason Ou claimed three medals at the Nottingham Trent University U15 tournament, winning the mixed doubles final 21-15 25-23 alongside Surrey’s Lila Dundas, adding to the bronze he won in the singles tournament.

In the boys’ doubles, the teenager and partner Jia Bin Lee, also Surrey, lost to Oxfordshire teammate Benjamin Horseman, who was partnered by Hampshire’s Dillon Chong.

Jessica Street won the mixed doubles at the Worcestershire U17 competition, triumphing 22-20 with partner Melissa Mundy, from Kent, while she also went home with a singles bronze.

Oxford duo Rachel Wang and Lydia Fehse won doubles bronze at the Gloucestershire U15 event and Ryan Tao partnered Surrey’s Trevon Dias to boys doubles bronze at the Cheltenham U13.

Meanwhile, Oakley’s Ethan Rose took singles gold at the Under 19 Finnish Junior International Tournament.
