PORTSMOUTH have started this season like they ended the last campaign, when they slipped from the top of Sky Bet League One in January to finish fourth.

They sit 16th going into tomorrow’s visit of Oxford United, but last year’s play-off semi-finalists still have a talented squad that can hurt the U’s.

JOHN MARQUIS

The striker, below, was tipped to fire Kenny Jackett’s side to promotion when he signed from Doncaster Rovers in the summer.

Marquis was prolific at his former club, notching 67 goals in 152 games, and has found the net three times this season in a struggling team.

CRAIG MACGILLIVRAY

The goalkeeper was unlucky to score a last-minute own goal as Pompey let slip a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Bristol Rovers last weekend.

MacGillivray has been one of his side’s top performers in the opening weeks of the campaign, keeping five clean sheets.

TOM NAYLOR

The club captain can play in several positions, but has mostly been used in central midfield this season.

He remains Jackett’s most trusted lieutenant and is the only member of the squad to start every league game so far in 2019/20.
