EDDIE Pepperell produced a promising first round at the Portugal Masters today.
The Abingdon golfer shot a four-under 67 in Vilamoura in what will be his last event of the regular European Tour season.
Pepperell got off to a flying start with birdies at the first and fifth, only for a bogey at the seventh to halt his progress.
However, he birdied the 12th and picked up another shot at the 15th to climb the leaderboard.
A bogey at the 16th was a setback, but the Frilford Heath member bounced straight back by picking up a shot at the par-five 17th and then another at the final hole.
Pepperell tees off at 8.50 tomorrow morning, where he will again play alongside Martin Kaymer and Ryan Fox.
