ORACLE made a perfect start to the new Oxford & District League season with a a 6-0 home victory over Berinsfield, writes PETE EWINS.
Mark Trafford (23,200), Ian Gordon (8,120), Pauline Withey (13,200, break 5,400 and 6,020) and Brian Rose were their winners.
Vikings A saw off their B side 4-2.
Allan Lacey (5,350) put the A side in front, before Lewis Stratford (7,090, break 6,040) levelled.
Mike Jones (14,750, breaks 8,160 and 6,360) restored the A side’s lead, but again it was wiped out as Melvyn Johnson reached double figures for the first time (12,980, break 11,080).
The victory was finally sealed by Alan Oliver (13,500, break 8,950) and Jones.
Democrats Club won 4-2 at home to Gladiators thanks to John Patey (2), Richard Garrett and Billy Hill.
Bob Pincombe and Dave Jarman replied.
Roger Tomlin claimed two points for Headington Con Club, but they went down 4-2 at Donnington.
Ian Moquet, Dave Tooke, Jenny Florey and Dennis Atkins were on target for the hosts.
Masons came from behind to win 5-1 at home to Staff Club.
Martyn Wood and Alan Lowe won twice each, while Mick Murphy completed the success.
