JAMES Henry is considering going back to the drawing board with his penalties in a bid to stay one step ahead of opposition goalkeepers.

Half the midfielder’s eight goals this season have come from the spot.

And when shoot-outs are taken into account, the 30-year-old has successfully converted all 11 attempts for United.

But Henry is well aware it is getting harder to stretch that flawless run the longer it goes on, as analysts from other clubs have more material to study.

Doncaster Rovers goalkeeper Seny Dieng almost snapped the hot streak last weekend, but despite getting a hand to the ball it had enough power to cross the line.

It may see him change tack if the visitors get a penalty at Rotherham United today.

Henry said: “Sometimes I try to wait for the keeper and I did on that one.

“I thought I saw him go to the right, but luckily it was right in the corner, so it went in.

“I was speaking to my old man the other day and saying I might have to maybe rethink them after a little bit.

“There’s probably a lot of footage on my penalties now.”

Henry’s spot-on record has helped put him top of United’s scoring charts.

Cameron Brannagan, who is one goal further back, has joked penalties should not count.

Henry replied: “Cam’s said that a few times. I’d say he underestimates how hard it is to take penalties, although saying that he’s got a good record himself.”

Henry’s form makes him a marked man in Sky Bet League One, but he is likely to come in for extra attention this afternoon.

The game allows him to renew acquaintances with Rotherham skipper Richard Wood

“I know him from my days with Charlton Athletic,” the centre-half told the Rotherham Advertiser.

“I was living in London with goalkeeper Ben Hamer.

“Ben and James were mates because they’d been together at Millwall. James was still playing for them.

“He stayed over in the flat with us quite a bit.

“We got on well and had a good laugh. He’s a very good player.

“We’ll be working on Oxford in training this week and no doubt he’ll be flagged up as one of the main threats.”
