THAME United and Kidlington must try again after their Buildbase FA Trophy clash finished 1-1 on Saturday.

But it was Kidlington who will be far happier with the result after goalkeeper Christian Lawrence saved a penalty and Tommy Castle was sent off late on.

Hosts Thame took just four minutes to go ahead in the extra preliminary round tie when Jack Tutton reacted quickest to poke home after Dan West’s shot was saved.

They had a great chance to double their lead after the break when West was fouled in the box, but Marcus Mealing saw his weak penalty saved.

They were made to pay when Kaylem Patterson equalised on 71 minutes.

And although Castle picked up a second yellow card with 12 minutes left, Thame could not find a winner, with the teams replaying on Wednesday.

North Leigh crashed out after squandering a 3-1 lead against Basingstoke Town.

The visitors took the lead when a fierce cross from Adam Everiss deflected off Ben Brown’s trailing leg and went straight into the top corner.

However, the Millers hit back.

They levelled when Ekow Elliott scored from the penalty spot after a handball on 15 minutes.

The same player made it 2-1 with his second successful spot-kick of the afternoon on 28 minutes after Aaron Woodley had been brought down in the area.

When Lance Williams made it 3-1 just five minutes into the second half, North Leigh appeared well on the way to victory.

But Basingstoke reduced the deficit through Scott Armsworth’s close-range finish on 59 minutes, and five minutes later levelled through Zach Robinson.

And the visitors won it with 17 minutes to go when Robinson crossed for Ben Wright to head home what proved the winner.
