OXFORD United’s performance against West Ham United has given boss Karl Robinson a selection headache, according to Elliott Moore.

Eyebrows were raised when the U’s manager made six changes to his starting line-up for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup third round tie, but several of the players who came in starred as the Premier League side were dispatched 4-0.

Moore, who scored United’s first goal against the Hammers, was among those to impress after recovering from a back spasm.

And the defender hopes the cup shock has given Robinson something to think about ahead of tomorrow’s Sky Bet League One clash at home to Gillingham.

“For players like myself who have been out for a bit, Wednesday was a chance to show what we can do and give the gaffer a problem when he decides the team for Saturday," he said.

“We’re all one team, we all support each other and the lads that don’t play support the ones who do.

“I don’t think you can say that was a weakened side against West Ham, everyone’s got a point to prove and everyone wants to be in the team – we all put a shift in and got the result.

“A lot of people had us as the underdogs, but we’ve shown we can come up against a team of their strength and pull them apart.”

Many thought the 22-year-old had opened his account for United when Coventry City’s Fankaty Dabo scored his second own goal of the 3-3 draw on August 31.

But after notching in the 2-1 defeat at Fleetwood Town earlier this month, Moore was delighted to find the net at the Kassam Stadium.

He said: “It was a nice feeling scoring in front of the fans and I think the celebration topped it off.”
