JAMIE Mackie believes the goals will flow for Matty Taylor now he has opened his goalscoring account for Oxford United.
The striker’s loan spell has been disrupted by a groin injury, but he came off the bench to head in Chris Cadden’s 79th-minute cross.
It wrapped up a 6-0 win against Lincoln City, but while the result was already long settled, Mackie reckons the goal will be significant.
The forward, who was replaced by Taylor, said: “It’s brilliant. I was delighted for him and I jumped off the bench.
“It’s really hard to come to a club when you probably haven’t had the best pre-season, knowing that you could go.

“It takes a lot longer than people think and you can’t just switch it on.
“It takes a few games, so to score when he’s not fully at it yet is brilliant. It’s almost like a bonus.
“He will kick on, I think he will only get better and sharper.
“I’ve been there, it’s tough to get really sharp when you haven’t had a great
pre-season.
“But he’s getting there and he’ll be flying soon.”
Mackie was also on target at Sincil Bank, with a delicate curling finish.
He said: “How it came off the bat was a bit strange, but the position I’ve put it is what I wanted.
“It came off a bit slow, but it was nice to see it go in.
“We scored at good times and it does make a difference.”
