BANBURY United bowed out of the Emirates FA Cup tonight.
Mike Ford’s side lost 1-0 at Gainsborough Trinity in their first qualifying round replay.
After a first half devoid of goalmouth action, the hosts went ahead just three minutes after the break when Kingsley James fired home.
Banbury had a great chance to level when top scorer Janaai Gordon was put through on goal, but his effort was saved by Joe Green.
The hosts then wasted an even better opportunity when Gavin Allot was brought down in the box by Banbury goalkeeper Jack Harding.
However, the visiting No 1 made amends by saving Allot’s spot-kick.
Gordon had the ball in the net late on for the Puritans, but it was ruled out for offside.
Kidlington host Didcot Town in the preliminary round of the BetVictor Southern League Challenge Cup tomorrow night (7.45).
