OXFORD United got their FA Women’s National League season off to a flying start with a 4-0 win over Chichester City.

Debutant Daisy McLachlan bagged a double, with Georgia Timms and Emily Allen also on target as the U’s ran out comfortable winners.

All the goals came in a superb first-half display at Court Place Farm.

It took United just seven minutes to open their account, when McLachlan drifted inside onto her left foot and curling an effort into the top corner from 25 yards.

Timms had already gone close, but made no mistake with her next opportunity, slamming home a cross to double the lead.

McLachlan made it 3-0 on 20 minutes, firing home off the post following a fine team move.

And United made the game safe just before half-time when Allen headed home.

Lauren Haynes, Kayleigh Hines, Timms and McLachlan went close to further goals, but United ran out comfortable winners, with two-goal McLachlan delighted with the team’s display.

“It’s a really good feeling to get two goals on my debut,” she said. “It was a really positive performance.

“There’s a really good buzz, I think everyone is positive and everyone is hungry to go on and have a good season”
