OXFORD United's lack of striking options is a concern for some supporters ahead of today's match against Coventry City.

The U's host the Sky Blues at the Kassam Stadium this afternoon and we spoke to fans on Facebook Live outside the ground earlier.

Jamie Mackie leads the line for Karl Robinson's men this afternoon, with fellow strikers Matty Taylor and Dan Agyei missing out through injury and being held back for Tuesday's Leasing.com Trophy game against Norwich City U21s respectively.

United failed to convert chances into goals in the 2-1 defeat at Blackpool two weeks ago and U's supporter Alex and David Pearmain, from Wallingford, are worried an absence of attacking options could cost the side in the weeks ahead.

Alex said: "It definitely feels like the end of last season. We're playing good football but you just can't predict it - today we could win 3-0, get absolutely spanked and anywhere in between.

"It makes it exciting and enjoyable, but you do wonder how much it's actually moved on over the summer. I think we'd like to see that bit of steel to close out games when we go one or two up.

"Do that and we could get play-offs, otherwise we'll knock around mid-table but give anyone a game."

David, his father, was also concerned, but is optimistic that United carry a threat in other areas.

He said: "Although we're all bothered about strikers, some of the new signings are great additions."

He added: "I can't see us being promoted or relegated, we're probaly talking about mid-table obscurity. But there's a lot to be said for that."

Agyei is expected to play against Norwich, but Alex feels he should have already reached the starting XI  after signing three weeks ago.

He said: "He was given a three year contract, he's played at a decent level already. You'd think he'd be in, at least on the bench.

"One of Karl's strengths is that he keeps the dressing room in the dressing room, unlike Appleton who was one mistake and you're out.

"Jamie Mackie is a great guy and does a lot for the team, but he can't carry the team.

"Where else are the goals coming from? Woodburn looks good, Henry hasn't started brilliantly for his great standards."
