Bicester’s Chui-Que Wong took on some of the top players in Europe when she represented England at the Euro Mini Championships in France.
The 11-year-old was part of a nine-strong squad in France and fought hard in two qualifying group stages before playing in the consolation event.
There, she found defeated Estonia’s Julia Bragina 3-0 (11-9, 11-8, 11-6) and Coralie Chauvin, of France, 3-0 (11-9, 11-5, 11-7), before losing 12-10 in a deciding fifth game against another French opponent, Violette Clavier.
Those results put her into the last 32, where she was defeated 3-2 by Vanda Vanisova, of Slovakia.
She finished in a share of 17th position in the consolation event and 49th overall out of 75 competitors in her age group.
