OXFORD United are dreaming of another meeting with the Premier League’s elite after staging an astonishing comeback in the Carabao Cup.

Millwall looked to be cruising through thanks to Jon Dadi Bodvarsson’s brace, but the Iceland striker would come to rue missing a big hat-trick chance, which struck the post.

Mark Sykes pulled a goal back in the 87th minute to transform the atmosphere in last night’s second-round tie at the Kassam Stadium.

And in the final minute of stoppage-time, Ben Woodburn was fouled in the box and James Henry slotted home the penalty to make it 2-2.

That sent the clash to a shoot-out, where the hosts triumphed 4-2 to get their name in the hat for tonight’s third-round draw.

Last season they were handed a home tie with Manchester City and boss Karl Robinson has his fingers crossed for another high-profile clash.

He said: “We got a magical draw last time, let’s hope it’s kind again and the fans can have a nice day out and we can then turn our focus to the league.

“One thing we want is an ultra-competitive tie that gives us tremendous experience and allows our young players to grow as a group.

“That would be perfect.”

Henry only came on in the 77th minute but had an eventful evening, setting up the first goal and scoring the equaliser.

He scored from the spot again in the shoot-out to silence the travelling fans, who had singled him out for special treatment as a former Lions player.

The midfielder said: “I didn’t expect anything less from them.

“It was just a case of when we got the penalty to make sure I took my time and put it in the back of the net.

“I just thought if we got a goal they might drop off and give us space on the ball to try to make something happen.

“We managed to keep them under pressure and got the penalty.

“It was a nice one to finish off and win the penalty shoot-out, because it gives us a bit of momentum now.”
