OXFORD City ended a two-match winless run when coming from behind to beat Bath City 2-1 on Bank Holiday Monday.

Tarik Moore-Azille and Stefan Brown scored in the second half as Mark Jones’ side claimed victory in Somerset.

City’s second win of the campaign has helped them climb to 16th in Vanarama National League South as they put recent defeats to Welling United and Hemel Hempstead Town behind them.

Both sides started brightly without creating any real chances of note.

But Bath opened the scoring on 26 minutes, when Tom Smith found the net from a tight angle after good work from Tyler Harvey.

City’s Finn Tapp was then needed to clear Ross Stearn’s effort off the line, while Smith blazed another chance over as the home side went in search of a second.

But the visitors kept them at bay to ensure they only a trailed by a goal at the break.

And City levelled five minutes into the second half when Josh Ashby’s dangerous cross from the right was headed home by Moore-Azille.

They were let off the hook moments later when goalkeeper Craig King was beaten from distance, but the ball hit a post and bounced clear.

Having gone so close to conceding, the visitors then went in front with 15 minutes to go.

Joe Raynes brought down Brown in the area and the striker picked himself up to send former Oxford United goalkeeper Ryan Clarke the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Substitute Craig Fasanmade fired over late on for City, but it did not matter as they had already done enough.
