CHINNOR have appointed Ben Manning as their club captain for the 2019/20 season.
The back-row forward, who has made more than 100 appearances over five years with the Thame-based side, takes on the role for the upcoming National League 1 campaign.
Manning has been a crucial member of Chinnor’s squad since 2014, twice winning player of the season, while he helped the club achieve promotion to the third tier for the first time in 2017/18.
He is now looking forward to taking on the role.
“It’s a real privilege,” said Manning.
“I wasn’t expecting it at all, but it’s definitely something I’m quite proud of.
“This (being club captain) and getting 100 caps is up there with my achievements here, as well as promotion.
“It’s definitely exciting, a good role to have, and I’m happy to lead the boys this year.”
Director of rugby Matt Williams added: “It was an obvious appointment for us.
“Ben bleeds black and white.
“He’s just a good all-round guy, his camaraderie is brilliant, he’s a great player – it just made sense for him to be club captain.”
