OXFORDSHIRE’S BetVictor Southern League sides will be bidding to bounce back from their opening day defeats tonight.

Wantage Town, Didcot Town, North Leigh, Thame United and Kidlington were all beaten in Division 1 Central on Saturday.

But they have an opportunity to immediately put points on the board this evening.

Thame United host North Leigh in the first Oxfordshire derby of the season.

Wantage, who opened the scoring in their defeat at Welwyn Garden City, welcome Aylesbury United to Alfredian Park.

Jamie Heapy will be looking to record his first win as Didcot manager when the Railwaymen host AFC Dunstable, while Kidlington travel to Halesowen Town.

Meanwhile, only two Oxfordshire side’s progressed from the first round of the Uhlsport Hellenic League’s Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup.

Headington Amateurs beat Tytherington Rocks 1-0, while Thame Rangers overcame Yateley United 3-1.

Lewis Petrie’s brace proved in vain as Shrivenham were beaten 3-2 at home by Moreton Rangers.

Easington Sports also suffered an early exit as they lost 1-0 at home to Virginia Water.

Fabio Pinto headed Letcombe in front, but they were unable to prevent a 3-1 defeat at home to Tuffley Rovers.

Pinto also hit the bar in the second half with the score at 2-1, but the visitors put the game to bed with eight minutes remaining.

Faringdon Town suffered a heavy 7-1 defeat at home to Brimscombe & Thrupp, Ryan Bradbury scoring their consolation goal.

Division 1 East outfit Wallingford Town also fell at the first hurdle, losing 2-0 at home to Burnham.

Abingdon Town went down 7-1 at Chalvey Sports, Deshawn Whittaker netting for the visitors.

Didcot Town Dev suffered a 3-2 defeat against Holyport, while Clanfield 85 lost 5-0 at home to Hereford Lads Club.

Elsewhere, Francesco Merola and Karl Roberts were on the scoresheet in Wantage Town Dev’s 2-0 win over Chippenham Town Dev as they made a strong start to their Division 2 West campaign.

Wallingford Town Res suffered a 7-2 defeat at the hands of Aston Clinton in Division 2 South.
