OXFORD United’s daunting run of early season fixtures continues with Peterborough’s visit to the Kassam Stadium today.

Darren Ferguson’s side is packed with dangerous players at Sky Bet League One level, from defence to attack.

IVAN TONEY

It is hard to believe that Toney is still only 23, considering the problems he has posed United down the years.

The forward scored the first of his five goals against the U’s back in May 2014, when he found the net in a 3-1 victory for Northampton that kept the Cobblers in the Football League.

He netted for Posh in both games against United last season, including the winner at the Kassam Stadium, so Karl Robinson’s men should know all about his threat.

GEORGE BOYD

The midfielder rejoined Posh this summer, six years after ending his first spell at London Road.

Boyd has several years of Championship experience and even starred in the Premier League for Burnley, so it is not hard to see why Ferguson was delighted to secure the 33-year-old’s signature.

He was deployed in centre midfield in a 4-4-2 during Posh’s opening day defeat to Fleetwood, but fans are unconvinced that position brings the best out of him.

MARK BEEVERS

The signing of Beevers was another deal Peterborough fans raved about this summer, after the centre back left Bolton Wanderers.

When he was last at this level, Beevers established a formidable partnership with David Wheater in Bolton’s 2016/17 promotion season.

He is expected to be similarly effective this season, but will need to improve on a shaky performance against Fleetwood.
