STEFAN Brown opened his goalscoring account to earn Oxford City their first point of the Vanarama National League South season.

The striker’s glanced header in the 78th minute earned a 1-1 draw for Mark Jones’s men at Chippenham Town.

It was part of an eventful second half in Wiltshire, which ground to a halt when the floodlights briefly failed.

City were looking for a response to their 3-0 opening-day defeat to Concord Rangers on Saturday.

But they fell behind on 16 minutes with Rhys Tyler’s cross drifting over goalkeeper Craig King and into the net.

Danny Rowe twice headed wide from Kyran Wiltshire crosses as City looked for an equaliser before half-time.

City started the second half brightly before the lights went out, but fortunately it was only a temporary issue.

And when play restarted Brown levelled the scores.

Eddie Jones then skewed an effort wide, which was as close as City came to a winner despite 12 minutes being added on for the long stoppage.
