ANOTHER terrific spell of bowling from Joe Butcher helped Oxfordshire beat Wales by nine wickets in Usk.
The Abingdon Vale seamer took three more victims on the final day of the Western Division fixture as he claimed 5-56 to finish with match figures of 8-81 and help dismiss the home side for 161.
It left Oxon with the simple task of knocking off the 16 runs required to earn victory, which they did in 3.2 overs to secure their second Unicorns Counties Championship win of the campaign.
Trailing by 146 runs after the first innings, Wales, who resumed on 95-4, had plenty of work to do.
But Butcher continued where he left off with the ball on the first two days.
He trapped Thomas Bevan leg before wicket to leave Wales on 98-5.
They then slipped to 114-7 as Cameron Herring and Andrew Gorvin, who were caught by Jonny Cater and Harvey Eltham respectively, also fell victim to the seamer.
Wales were staring a heavy defeat in the face when Russell White bowled Tomos Jones to leave them on 135-8 - 11 runs short of Oxon’s first-innings lead.
But captain Samuel Pearce (54), batting at No 6, continued to dig deep, helping his side reach 161 all out in the 54th over as they forced their visitors to bat again.
Oxon found themselves 10-1 when Harry Smith was dismissed by Gorvin.
But the result was just a formality as George Sandbach scored the winning runs as the visitors claimed a dominant victory.
