Wallingford and City of Oxford fought out an exciting 3-3 draw at The Hithercoft in South League MBB& O Division 1, with Wallingford battling back after finding themselves two goals down in the first quarter of an hour.

Wallingford were hoping to repeat their 6-2 pre-season victory over City, so their poor start was probably down to complacency as Andy Small and Andy Bell fired City two up.

Wallingford regained their composure and started to look more threatening. Nick Golding arched round the D to thread the ball through to Chris Debney, who slotted the ball into the net to start the comeback before half-time.

Early in the second half, Ross Wheeler's through ball penetrated the defence, leaving Golding one-on-one with the keeper before calmly stroking the ball into the bottom left corner.

Wallingford continued the pressure, with Tim Chamberlain going close, having run the length of the pitch.

Small then scored from a short corner for his second goal of the game for City to regain their lead. But another smooth move from Wallingford saw Debney score his second of the game and level the score.

Our picture shows Oxford Hawks crashed to a 4-0 defeat at Maidstone in Premier Division 1 and Oxford University were also beaten in the same division, going down 3-2 at home to Richmond.

Banbury's fine start continued with a 2-1 win over a well-organised Gore Court side, who had also enjoyed a 100 per cent record up until the game.

Great vision from James Clement found Adrian Simons at the top of the D, and Simons turned on a sixpence to unleash an unstoppable shot to put Banbury in front.

Australian Aaron Glass drew the Kent side level before the break following a fast break down the right.

Midway through the second half, Clement and Foreman combined on the left wing to open up the home side's D. Foreman's pinpoint pass found Simon Boardman, who did well to turn and slot the ball home through the keeper's legs.

Rover Oxford travelled to bottom side Trojans aiming to extend their two-game unbeaten run in Premier Division 2. But the afternoon proved a bitterly disappointing one as they crashed 8-3 and were completely outplayed in many departments.

At 4-0 down at half-time there was no way back after Trojans were gifted their advantage through several sloppy defensive lapses.

The second half didn't start much better for Rover after going six down. Three relativley quick goals from Rover - two from Dan Smyth and one from Dan Pilbeam -restored some pride, but following two further goals from the home team and a yellow card to forward Smyth, the final whistle came with a sigh of relief.

Abingdon slipped to a 4-3 home defeat against OMT, who opened up to a two-goal lead inside 15 minutes.

A brace from Will Trigg saw Abingdon draw level, the first a flick high into the net after Josh Tomlinson's strong run through the middle, his second a low penalty corner strike.

OMT regained the lead when a Marco Cecchini hit out went straight to Patteson on the 25-yard line, and he took the ball back into the circle and fired it past Tony Edwards in the Abingdon goal.

Tomlinson then finished off a run across the circle with a shot from ten yards.

However, Abingdon gifted OMT the winner with ten minutes remaining.

Edwards, who had to come out of his circle to play the ball with his stick, only half-cleared and when it was quickly played back into the circle, Duncan Bulgin forced it over the line from two yards.
