Wantage Town 1 (Bourne 30)

Hook Norton 2 (Spiero 63, Northover 70)

FORMER Wantage player Ben Spiero rolled back the years to inspire Hook Norton's comeback victory in Saturday's Hellenic Premier Division clash.

Spiero, Hook Norton's joint-manager, drove a shot past Wantage keeper Luke Alford to equalise in the 63rd minute.

Seven minutes later, Hooky substitute Richard Northover scored the winning goal after the Wantage defence failed to clear the ball.

Danny Keen went close to securing a point for Wantage with a shot that went just wide.

The first half had belonged to Wantage as player-manager Richie Bourne put them ahead on the half-hour with a thunderous left-footed volley from 35 yards.

Hooky keeper Richard Meadows was rooted to the spot as the ball flew into the top left corner.

The outcome could have been different if Matty Horsell's first-half chip for Wantage had dipped under the bar instead of hitting it.

Abingdon Tn 1 (Bloomfield 34)

Bicester Tn 1 (Styles 87)

A LATE goal from Andy Styles earned Bicester a share of the spoils In the first half, Bicester striker Dan Leggett saw an attempted lob saved by Gareth Walker at full stretch when Bicester were in the ascendancy. Then Abingdon, who were missing Danny Wise with a hamstring injury, took the lead in the 34th minute. The lively Aaron Williams produced a cross which Carl Bloomfield headed home, shortly after the striker had headed another Williams cross against the bar. With the returning Lee Henderson having an outstanding game, Bicester looked more assured in the second half. A succession of shots saw Abingdon keeper Gareth Walker bring off some excellent stops, while Bicester's Paul Spittle shot wide from a good position A rare second-half Abingdon attack saw Mark Simms bring a fine save from keeper Tom Macnamara. With time running out, Bicester's Danny Bone threaded the ball into the path of Styles, who rifled the ball into the roof of the net to give the visitors a share of the spoils.

North Leigh 1 (Futcher 5)

Carterton 0

NORTH Leigh dominated this local derby from start to finish, but an early Simon Futcher strike was their only reward as chances went begging in a frustrating afternoon for the home attack at Eynsham Park. With just five minutes played a pinpoint curling Futcher shot from 20 yards found the bottom corner of the Carterton net. North Leigh could have stretched their lead as Andy Caton's shot was deflected for a corner and Chris Allen struck the sbar. Carterton keeper James Domm then denied Andy McCabe, before Liam Hope fired just over the bar on the stroke of half-time. The second half continued in the same vein, with Leigh unable to add to their lead thanks to some heroic Carterton defending. Michael Horrocks cleared off the line after Hope had dribbled round Domm, and the woodwork came to their rescue as a Mark Threlfall cross evaded bounced back off a post. The visitors went close with five minutes remaining as a rising Tom Perry strike from outside the box just cleared the bar.

Shrivenham 2 (Bohane 24, Peters 64)

Kidlington 2 (Gilkes 34, Deabill 49)

KIDLINGTON, with ten first-team players absent, felt they would have taken all points had Shrivenham skipper Jon Peters not allegedly punched the ball into Steve Benbow's net for their second-half equaliser. TJ Bohane put Shrivenham ahead against the run of play, with a low 25-yard' shot, which arrowed into the right-hand corner of the goal past Benbow's despairing dive. Kidlington kept the pressure on and eventually Chris Gilkes equalised with a venomous shot, which whistled into the far corner of the net. After half-time, the visitors took the lead with a textbook goal executed by leading scorer Deabill, heading powerfully home from Morgan Williams's first-time cross. Shrivenham levelled when Peters punched the ball away from Benbow and into the unguarded while Kidlington players all claimed handball. The referee said he was unsighted. A couple of minutes later Peters had another great chance, but this time the bar came to Kidlington's rescue with Benbow well beaten.
