MICK Phipps led the way as Black Prince came from behind to beat Chequers A, writes ANDY BEAL.

His 15-doll haul (6-4-5) secured a 2-1 victory in the Greene King Oxford & District League Premier/Section 1 clash.

Ironically, his first-leg sixer proved in vain as Chequers triumphed 25-24.

But Black Prince hit back to take the next two 26-15, 26-15 and pick up victory.

Roger Goodall chipped in with 13 dolls (4-4-5) for Prince.

Swan A edged out George A in a close game where only two dolls separated the teams over the three legs.

George won the opener 25-24, before Swan took the next on three sticks after it finished 26-26.

Swan then set 28 in the final leg, with George falling three short.

Jon Townsend was top dog for Swan with 14 dolls (4-5-5), backed up by Dick Walsh’s 13 (4-4-5).

Woodman picked up their first victory of the season with a 2-1 triumph over Red Lion Yarnton, but Gladiators are still winless after a third successive defeat, this time at the hands of New Club A.

Garsington Sports made it three wins out of three with a 2-1 success over Swan B.

In Section 3, an unusual occurrence happened in the second leg between Six Bells A Kidlington and George B.

George led, but Six Bells levelled having set 24 in which all eight players hit three dolls. They then went on to claim victory.
