OXFORD Saints’ tough start to the season continued as they fell to back-to-back defeats in National League Southern Division 1.

The Abingdon-based side suffered a 52-7 defeat at home to Solent Thrashers.

It came off the back of a 42-7 loss to Sussex Thunder on the opening day of the campaign.

Saints conceded two early scores against Solent at Tilsley Park.

However, they steadied the ship and headed into the half-way point with only a 16-point deficit.

The visitors came out of the blocks quickly, though, and went on to race into a commanding lead.

Oxford finally got off the mark late in the third period when quarterback Tony Glover put together an impressive 12-play drive to give the home side something to cheer about.

Saints are next in action on May 12, when they travel to Berkshire Renegades.
