EDDIE Pepperell shot a four-under-par 68 in the second round to comfortably make the cut at the Players Championship.

The Abingdon golfer carded five birdies and a bogey at Sawgrass to move into a share of 29th.

Pepperell finds himself eight shots behind leaders Tommy Fleetwood and Rory McIlroy heading into today’s third round.

He tees off at 3.40pm (GMT), partnering Joel Dahmen.

Pepperell built on a steady level-par opening round with back-to-back birdies in the first two holes.

A dropped shot at the par-four sixth curtailed his progress, but he still reached the turn on one under.

The Frilford Heath member then birdied the 10th and 12th holes to move up the leaderboard.

Pepperell picked up another shot at the par-five 16th to complete a flawless back nine and finish three above the cut.
