EDDIE Pepperell carded a level-par 72 in the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational as he finished down the field in Florida.

The Abingdon golfer, who was left to rue a nightmare Saturday, came 57th on three over for the tournament at Bay Hill.

Pepperell, who had carded rounds of 72 and 68, put himself in contention heading into the third day.

But he endured a round to forget, which included five bogeys, two double bogeys and two birdies.

It was then a case of consolidation in the final round, but he dropped a shot at the par-three second.

The World No 42 recovered with a birdie at the sixth, but a bogey at the ninth saw him reach the turn at one over.

Pepperell looked to be finishing on a high after picking up shots at the tenth and 16th, but a bogey at the penultimate hole saw him finish on level par.
