NATHAN Douglas is ready to pull out all the stops tonight to win a medal at the European Indoor Championships, writes STUART WEIR.

The Oxford City athlete competes in the triple jump final in Glasgow from 7.35pm.

Douglas, competing at the event for the first time since winning silver in 2007, progressed from qualifying on Friday night.

The 36-year-old finished eighth with a season's best 16.48m.

After only three rounds in qualifying, the final is contested over six jumps and Douglas is looking forward at having a shot at a medal.

He said: "It's now a case of resting and getting some treatment and being ready for Sunday.

"And in the final everyone gets six jumps, so I can go for it from the first round."

On Friday, Douglas opened with 16.10 amongst a field of 18 athletes chasing eight places.

His second attempt of 16.48 put him seventh going into the final round.

Down to go last, the 36-year-old was then able to pass on his third jump as he had already qualified after only one athlete bettered his effort.
