SEAN Stratford and Melvyn Johnson booked their place in the semi-finals of the Oxford & District League Men’s Pairs competition, writes PETE EWINS.
The Oracle B duo just got the better of Richard Garrett and Terry Green, from West Oxford Democrats Club in a thrilling quarter-final encounter.
Stratford and Johnson won the opening leg, before their opponents hit back to make it 1-1.
The Oracle duo retook the lead, only to be pegged back once again as Garrett and Green squared the match at 2-2.
However, their margin of success was not enough overall victory as the Oracle pair secured a semi-final place with a 13,440-9,360 aggregate win.
Roger Tomlin and David Naylor booked last four places in the Never Won Cup.
Tomlin beat Adam Ingram 2-0, while Naylor triumphed with a 5,930-3,400 aggregate win over Vinnie Brown.
In the first round of the Men’s Individual competition, Alan Oliver beat John Patey 8,860-3210, while Chris Bateman secured a 9,400-4,710 aggregate victory over John Boal.
