DAZA Usher has big plans for Scott James after the super welterweight won his eighth professional fight.

The Bicester BC boxer beat Patryck Buczek on points at the MECA Theatre in Swindon.

After seeing his charge win all four rounds, head coach Usher revealed James would be stepping up a level in 2019.

He said:“Scott is a model professional.

“He is always in good shape and prepares for every contest meticulously.

“I feel he is improving all the time.

“The club is very proud of what he has achieved so far.

“Next year will be a big one for Scott as we’ll be looking to push on to championship level.”

A fast first-round ensued in Swindon, with James finding his range with a snapping jab.

He then landed a hook and cross combination towards the end of the three minutes.

James targeted the body of Buczek in the second, landing some heavy hooks, before snapping his opponent’s head back in the third with a right uppercut.

Both fighters went for victory in the final round, with the Bicester boxer ending on top before being awarded a 40-36 win by the judges.

James, who will be back in action in February, was delighted with his performance.

He said: “I am so pleased with this victory.

“I had a massive following and the pressure was really on.

“I had some great sparring in the lead up to this fight and it really told.

“I will relax and enjoy my victory for a few days then I’ll be back in the gym to improve on my performance.”
