CAPTAIN Abby D’Cruz believes Oxford University’s first win of the season could not have come at a better time ahead of today’s clash with Cambridge University (11.30).
The Dark Blues have endured a torrid campaign in the BUCS Premier South League, losing all seven of their fixtures.
But a 39-0 win over an Invitational XV sees Oxford head into this year’s Women’s Varsity Match, which marks the 30th anniversary of the contest, with a much-needed confidence boost.
“We have that belief and we know what we can do,” said D’Cruz.
“The win helped to confirm to us that what we have in our minds can become a reality.
“While results haven’t gone our way, we know we’ve been playing against some of the best university teams in the country.
“We have taken a lot from that and we have learned along the way.”
