OXFORDSHIRE’S men were celebrating after gaining promotion to Group 5 of the Lawn Tennis Association Winter County Cup.
The team were narrowly relegated last year, but went into their fixtures at Redbridge, Essex, in confident mood.
Captained by Jon Maskens, the squad of Benedict Calnan, Nigel Mathews, Joe Cartledge, Bradley Marriott, Cameron Price, Guy Mobey and Ned Batstone produced a superb display.
They opened with a 7-3 victory over Bedfordshire, leading 4-2 after the singles before going on to claim a comprehensive win.
Oxon then produced a great team display against the south of Scotland, dropping only one set with debut wins for Mobey and Batstone.
The crunch clash saw Oxfordshire go head-to-head with Wiltshire, who had also secured two wins from two.
Victories from Mathews, Cartledge, Calnan and Maskens saw Oxon lead 4-2 going into the doubles.
And when Cartledge and Mobey won in straight sets, promotion was secured.
