OXFORD City will look to put the disappointment of Tuesday’s Emirates FA Cup exit behind them as their focus switches to another competition.

Mark Jones’s side host Chelmsford City tomorrow in the third qualifying round of the Buildbase FA Trophy.

City put in a brave display in their televised first round replay with Tranmere Rovers, but bowed out with a 2-0 defeat against the Sky Bet League Two high-fliers.

Jones praised his players’ efforts, but says their focus immediately turned to tomorrow’s clash against a side who beat them 3-1 in Vanarama National League South last month.

He said: “We have to get over the disappointment quickly.

“The boys are obviously down, all the staff at the club are, but you have no choice in football.

“You can’t feel sorry for yourself. You have to regroup and go again.

“Chelmsford will be yet another tough game for us, they beat us last month, they’re a good side on a good run.

“It’s relentless, but we have to show some robustness and keep going.

“We’re not even half-way through the season yet, we still have about 25 league games to play.

“We have to dust ourselves down, learn from the mistakes we made on Tuesday, and go again.”

City report a clean bill of health following the Tranmere defeat, although new signing Jack Self remains cup-tied as he played for Banbury United in an earlier round of the competition.
