BANBURY United boss Mike Ford has called on his players to stand up and be counted to arrest their poor run of form.

The Puritans have won just once in their last 11 matches and head into tomorrow’s Evo-Stik South League Premier Central clash at Coalville Town in desperate need of a victory.

“We lack leadership at the moment,” he said.

“We need somebody out there to really pull people through when we are under pressure.

“Individually we are good, but it just is not clicking collectively.”

Ford has brought in Edmund Hotter from Kettering, and he will make his debut, but there are doubts over four or five others with injury.

North Leigh boss Craig Dore has bolstered his squad with the signings of brothers Harry and Alfie Grant from Reading City.

The duo were both in Thatcham Town’s successful FA Vase-winning squad last season, and will go straight into Dore’s squad for tomorrow’s Division 1 Central trip to Aylesbury United.

Dore said: “These are major signings for us.

“Harry has been a pro at Sheffield Wednesday and Gillingham and has bags of experience. He is only 25, but will certainly bring us a bit more steel in midfield.

“Alfie is a highly-rated centre half, and to bring him to the club is a massive boost.”

Horatio Hirst (hamstring) is ruled out, however, and Dore believes a change of fortune is around the corner.

“Despite losing 5-1 to Bromsgrove last week, we actually played some really good football at times. Hopefully we can take the positives out of that and get a result at Aylesbury.”

Didcot Town manager Andy Ballard says now they are out of all the major cup competitions, they can re-focus on their league campaign, starting with tomorrow’s visit of Dunstable Town.

The Railwaymen have slipped into the bottom three, but have played only eight league games.

Ballard said: “Because of all the cup games, we’ve really fallen behind.

“We can now focus on our league form and hopefully get a run of wins to kick start our season.”

Aaron Woodley, George Reid, Brett Gardner and Caelan Isaac all return from injury, while Lance Williams is back from holiday and Leigh Bedwell returns in goal after his international duty with the England C side.

Meanwhile, Ballard has snapped up winger Greg Hackett from Ardley United.

Thame United manager Mark West knows that the next two games against the league’s top two Corby Town tomorrow and Bromsgrove on Tuesday, will be a stern test of his side, but believes they are more than capable of getting positive results.

Thame lost 5-2 at Premier outfit Royston last weekend in the FA Trophy, but the performance pleased West.

“I thought we acquitted ourselves really well against a top Royston side,” he said.

“We took the lead, and could have made it 2-0 before they equalised. They had a bit of class about them, but if we play as well as that on Saturday at Corby, there’s a good chance we’d get something out of the game.”

Dan West is a major doubt after having 11 stitches in an eye injury after receiving a boot to the head last weekend.

West said: “We will need to think very carefully about Dan, he got quite a bad blow.”

Kidlington boss Julian McCalmon has signed striker Mark Janes ahead of their home match with Yaxley.

Joey Cowlishaw is added to the squad after impressing for the development side, but Jack Quainton (suspension) misses out and defender Josh Uquart has left the club.
