OXFORD City were brought down to earth with a 3-2 defeat at Dartford.
Mark Jones’s side, whose 3-3 draw at Tranmere Rovers on Saturday earned them a televised Emirates FA Cup replay next Tuesday, could not follow up their superb result in last night’s
Vanarama National League South clash.
The hosts went ahead on five minutes through Andre Coker.
Jordan Wynter made it 2-0 on 15 minutes, but City reduced the deficit just 90 seconds later when Joe Oastler headed home from a corner following Kyran Wiltshire’s mazy run down the left.
However, Dartford made it 3-1 when Charlie Sheringham headed home on the half-hour mark.
Substitute Zac McEachran gave City hope when he scored in the 73rd minute after good work by Kabongo Tshimanga.
And although the visitors threw everything at Dartford in the closing stages, they were not able to find an equaliser.
Oxford City: King, Jones (Jefford 63), Godwin-Malife, Self (McEachran 63), Musonda, Oastler, Nombe, Fleet, Tshimanga, Otudeko (Ashby 63), Wiltshire. Subs not used: Fasanmade, Bawling.
