OXFORD University’s women are hoping their first all-girls show will prove a huge hit.
The special evening, which will take place on Saturday, November 17 at Iffley Road, will showcase competitive bouts between the university women’s squad and a select guest team of boxers from across the country.
Women’s boxing at Oxford has been a big success since it began 14 years ago, with the university being crowned both National Development champions and British University champions.
Head coach Dave Mace believes a card of all-women bouts could pave the way for future events.
‘’It’s a big step forward for the girls at the university and hopefully it will become an annual event,” he said.
Tickets for the event, which starts at 7.30pm, start from £12 and can be booked in advance at fixr.co/event/50369854.
Meanwhile, Farhaan Karim turned in a classy display to defeat Bicester’s Jimmy Barrett at Windrush Valley ABC’s show in Carterton.
The Blackbird Leys boxer won by a unanimous points decision to maintain his 100 per cent record.
