OXFORD City warmed up for next week’s Emirates FA Cup first round clash with an impressive 4-2 victory at Hampton & Richmond Borough on Saturday.

Goals from Zac McEachran, Kabongo Tshimanga and Joe Oastler, plus Kyran Wiltshire’s second-half effort gave Mark Jones’s side an emphatic win in their Vanarama National League South clash.

It means City will travel to Tranmere Rovers next weekend full of confidence.

Despite suffering a double blow ahead of the game with the departures of assistant manager Joe Deeney and key midfielder Rob Sinclair, the visitors started well.

They went ahead in just the third minute when McEachran unleashed a powerful effort that beat Tom Lovelock at his near post.

Tshimanga almost doubled the lead on ten minutes, but saw his effort turned behind.

However, the striker made no mistake just after the half-hour mark, converting a pinpoint Sam Nombe pass.

City made it 3-0 in stoppage time.

Nombe’s fierce shot led to a corner, from which McEachran’s delivery was met sweetly by Joe Oastler who headed home.

The hosts had made all three substitutions by the time the teams took to the field for the second period.

And Hampton reduced the deficit on 54 minutes when Jack Connors unleashed an unstoppable long-range effort into the back of the net.

McEachran went close to an instant reply, while Tshimanga spurned an excellent opportunity when once again clean through on goal.

But City did get the fourth goal their play deserved, Nombe again at the heart of the move which saw Wiltshire finish emphatically.

Connors scored his second of the game in injury time, but the game was already wrapped up.

And City can now head to Tranmere on a high.
