CHINNOR left it late to end a three-match winless run and beat Darlington Mowden Park 23-21 away from home.

Just a week after they claimed a dramatic draw at home to Old Elthamians, Caolan Ryan converted Jack Ramshaw’s try in the last play in County Durham.

The win kept Chinnor sixth in National League 1, but they are now only three points behind the leaders.

Darlington’s Warren Seals and Chinnor’s Ryan traded early penalties.

The hosts then led 18-3, thanks to tries from Callum MacKenzie and Talite Vailotei, with Seals, who kicked another penalty, converting the first.

A Ryan penalty reduced the arrears to 12 points at the break.

Darlington’s Joe Duffy was sin-binned soon after the restart and Chinnor took advantage with Kieran Goss going over, Ryan converting.

Both fly-halves traded penalties as Darlington led 21-16 with ten minutes to go.

Chinnor pushed hard for a reply and, after a series of scrums, penalties and knock-ons, Ramshaw went over near the posts, giving Ryan a simple conversion for victory.

Henley Hawks also scored in the last play to make it five wins in a row in National League 2 South when earning a 20-16 victory at Redruth.

George Primett’s try, converted by Finn Pieterson, put the visitors ahead.

But two unconverted tries saw the hosts lead 10-7 at half-time.

Henley responded well and George Wood dived over shortly after the break.

Two penalties saw Redruth hit back to lead 16-12.

But Pieterson replied with a penalty, before Hawks sealed victory in the last play when a catch and drive led to David Hyde diving over.

Pieterson’s conversion attempt was short, but it did not matter.
