Both City of Oxford and Witney found it tough in the final round of the Milton Keynes Junior League.

City finished fifth, only three points behind City of Milton Keynes, while Witney were last in their division at Biggleswade.

The City top performance came from the ten-year-old girls freestyle relay team of Ka Ya Cheung, Emilia Royal, Rhiannon Hodgson and Emily Noel, who won their event.

Other good individual swims came from Emma Lomas, Molly Williamson, Lucy Gaen, Emilia Royal, Lucy Smith and Hannah Vine.

Best individual performances from the boys came from Jack Gosden-Kaye in the 11-year breaststroke and Finn Monghan in the nine-year backstroke.

The boys 9 year old free style team also clinched 3rd place, the team comprising Finlay Clowe, Shotaro Teratani, Finn Monghan and James Cooney.

Conor Taylor bagged a swimmer-of-the-match award for Witney after winning the 12 & under boys' backstroke to take the accolade, with the runner-up votes being shared between Lauren Whitehill, who posted personal bests in the freestyle and backstroke, and Redd Pratley, winner of the 9 & under boys' breaststroke.

It was tough going for Witney's youngsters after a number of late withdrawals, as they finished in sixth place.

Result: 1 Staines 234pts, 2 Wickham 214, 3 Maidenhead 165, 4 Chelsea & Kensington 159, 5 Flitwick 127, 6 Witney 118.
