Oxford City's Chris Padmore is on cloud nine after he helped his Great Britain teammates to a world record in the 4x400m relay at the World Masters Championships in Riccione, Italy.

Padmore athlete competed in the vet 55 age group as Britain smashed the record by more than three seconds, clocking 3mins 43.59secs.

Padmore's split time was an unofficial 55.3secs.

He also finished seventh in the final of the 200m, clocking 25.27 and sixth in the 400m, finishing in 56.36.

Elsewhere, Steve Overton finished fifth in the final of the vet 45 1500m, where he clocked 4.09.45.

Roger Bradley crossed the line ninth in the vet 40 800m in 2.06.9.

Bruce Charles showed his all-round ability as he amassed 4,460 points in the vet 65 decathlon.

Brian Green was fifth in the vet 50 5,000m, clocking 16mins 36secs.

Radley's Jackie Charles came away from the event with four medals in the vet 65 category.

Charles won silver in the triple jump with a leap of 7.89m, and also finished second in the 4x100m relay.

She also grabbed a bronze medal in heptathlon, amassing 4,733 points, which was a new British age record.

Charles's fourth medal came in the 4x400m relay.

She also set a new British age record in the 80m hurdles when taking fifth place.

To complete a successful championships, Charles finished sixth in the long jump.

The championships attracted a record number of competitiors, with some 9,000 entries.
