OXFORD Harlequins ran in six tries to maintain their 100 per cent home record when beating Wimborne 37-5.

The hosts marked the official opening of the RFU-funded artificial surface at Horspath Sports Ground with a commanding victory in South West 1 East.

James Stacey kicked an early penalty for Quins, who went 8-0 up after two minutes when Pete Alston crashed over.

Josh Booth replied for Wimborne, but the hosts raced into a 27-5 lead at half-time.

Freddie Myatt, Johnnie Henderson and Matt White all crossed, Stacey converting twice.

Toni Turetta’s jinking run from 45 metres made it 32-5, before Callum Cashman drove over to complete the rout.

Banbury suffered a third straight defeat in a 22-6 loss at Old Centralians.

With 12 players already unavailable, Bulls’s injury woes were further compounded when Jimmy Manley broke his fibula and dislocated an ankle in only the third minute.

After a 45-minute delay while paramedics attended to the centre, the hosts found themselves 10-0 up at the break, thanks to tries from Ross Hannaford and Robert Winchle.

Banbury, who also lost Sam Carr-Archer to a knee injury, replied through two Ed Phillips penalties.

But late tries from Owen Chandler and Craig Bellinger, the first converted by Wayne Mulhern, saw Old Cents to victory.

Witney remain winless after they lost 22-17 at Stratford-upon-Avon.

The west Oxfordshire side took the lead when they were awarded a penalty try.

With Witney’s Luke Manning sin-binned, Stratford hit back through Frazier Kiff.

But the visitors led 12-8 at the break, thanks to Scott Mortimer’s try, which was followed by Gwylem Davies’ penalty for the hosts.

Pete Lawton’s score extended Witney’s advantage to nine points.

But tries from John Bruns and Jon Duncan, converted by Davies, condemned the visitors to a sixth straight defeat.
