KARL Robinson praised his players after watching Oxford United battle to earn a point against Southend United.
The U’s ended a run of four straight defeats in the 0-0 draw at Roots Hall.
But they were left wondering what might have been, when John Mousinho saw his stoppage-time header saved by Mark Oxley.
Instead United were forced to be happy with a point, which was not enough to prevent them dropping to the bottom of the Sky Bet League One table after Plymouth Argyle’s 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon.
Boss Robinson said: “For 20 minutes we struggled with their rotation, but then we started to get into it and we dominated the latter part of the first half and I thought second half it was all us.
“You always suspect, especially with the way things are going at the moment, you would have that fear element.
“You’ve got Ricky Holmes’ header, it should be a goal, Mousinho’s header should be a goal.
“But at this moment in time you know the place we’re at.
“The players’ mentality and application to this football club, they’re unbelievable people, they really are.”
