DIDCOT Town will look to put the heartbreak of their midweek FA Cup replay defeat behind them when they entertain Thamesmead Town in the Buildbase FA Trophy extra preliminary round tomorrow.

The Railwaymen lost on penalties after a 0-0 draw against Hitchin Town, but boss Andy Ballard wants his side to bounce back.

“My players gave their all on Tuesday, and I was delighted with the performance,” he said. “Even though the result wasn’t what we wanted.

“The intensity and work rate was phenomenal, and if we can match those levels week in week out, we’ll have a great chance of being successful.”

Didcot have a full squad to choose from against their struggling Bostik League opponents from Kent, and Ballard is relishing the tie.

“The FA Trophy is a great competition to be in,” he said.

“There’s financial reward and an opportunity to play against some top non-league sides. We will certainly be looking to kick on after Tuesday’s performance.”
